You can be right on that edge of the tolerance at install and everything seem fine with no CELs or symptoms that it is not exactly "in time." Only way to ensure that you get the synch exactly is to use a DRB to set it. As Blaine has said, "Find someone with a DRB to set the timing on the OPDA. Web8 mar 2012 · The issue is the top bushing of the unit has no way to get lubrication and after a while the bushing causes drag on the shaft which places undo wear on the pinion gear at the cam shaft which can lead to death/destruction/Armageddon of the engine. Web17 feb 2016 · Not if your moving to the new Crown OPDA. It addresses the lack of oil to the bushings already. if your modifying your existing OPDA, then I think you would add a zerk. For me it was easier to just rip and replace the old OPDA for the better designed Crown. 2005 LJ Rubihara #380

The shaft moves so much side to side that it will hit the sensor. No sense just changing the sensor.
