This gives rise to the "clunk" that you hear. Why this happens now is due to the wear of the valvebody and the ATF.

Also check you exhaust hangers to see if one is damaged and allowing the exhaust to hit the floor pan whne the enigne torqiues on start up. Never forget #99. WebAug 16, 2024 · If it is clunking down the road or the brakes are squealing that is a different story. As noted it has clunked into gear after sitting and starting to move in reverse for me a couple of times but it does not sound like it is hurting anything. In fact I have felt/heard it before in other vehicles.
